Reflections at 75: interviews with alumni of Massachusetts Mental Health Center/ by Edward A. Mason, 1987.

Under the supervision of the Dept. of Mental Health, the Massachusetts Mental Health Center and its predecessors have been responsible for providing residential and outpatient care and treatment for mentally ill persons--prior to 1967 specializing in acute psychotic disorders and since then serving more generally the Boston metropolitan area. To commemorate the seventy-fifth anniversary of the center, a videotape of interviews with present and former affiliates was prepared by Edward A. Mason in conjunction with Documentaries for Learning and the Dept. of Mental Health. Interviews contain the personal reminiscences of center affiliates including Karl Menninger, Wilfred Bloomberg, Leston Havens, Milton Greenblatt, Marilyn Matte, Harry Solomon, Gregory Rochlin, Justin Weiss, Jack Ewalt, Elvin Semrad, and Lenore Bolig. Topics include the center's early days as the Boston Psychopathic Hospital, its evolution under the leadership of succeeding superintendents, and changing trends in the diagnosis and treatment of mentally ill persons.
